Lab 1

Pixelated Arcade Coin

The purpose of this lab was to show off the use of the Unity animator. In this small scene, you play as Garfield. You can just walk around, jump, and collect a lasagna sphere at the end.

Final Project

Overview

For this project, I worked on a team with four other people, in which I served as a character artist. I would also occasionally make objects or environmental pieces for the game.

The game is called Spaced Out, and it is a prison escape game based in space! The goal is to find a possible way of escaping the space prison through a collection of interactive dialogues, exploring, and crafting new items.

Some of the main mechanics of the game include interacting with NPCs, who in turn give you hints as to what to do in this game, which is to find objects that help you escape!

Contributions

As the Character Artist, I created a series of spritesheets for every character. Initially, I had a more “realistic” approach for the main character. However, I landed on something much more simple and stylized. After discussions with my team, we agreed it would give more character to the game while keeping a central art theme that could be executed easier by the other artists.

This theme carried into the other character I would go on

to making, including the team themselves. I made each team-

member as a prisoner in the game, to serve as both placeholders, and little self-inserts. Each spritesheet was about 3-5 frames. It is just a simple idle animation for now, and in the future I hope to add other animations!
